The PANAMA CANAL cuts weeks and miles off traveling between the ATLANTIC OCEAN and PACIFIC OCEAN, before the canal was built the U.S. people had to travel all the way down to SOUTH AMERICA and come again all the way up to NORTH AMERICA to the west of U.S.
