The Power of the Gospel for Family Life, Part 1: Submission
Ephesians 5:21-24
Summary:
Have you ever had trouble submitting to someone else? To submit means to willingly serve, obey and to rejoice in someone else's leadership. That's hard for us! Today we start talking about God's design for the family. Paul begins with a hard word for wives: submit to your husbands. Why does he say this? Let's think about it:
1. The context of a wife's submission: mutual submission in the Spirit
2. The content of a wife's submission: a joyful willingness to live under the leadership of your husband
3. The fuel of a wife's submission: submitting is an act of worship to the Lord
Verse: Matthew 23:12 Whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and whoever humbles himself will be exalted.
