Music: Jean-Baptiste Lully

Jean-Baptiste Lully was born in Florence, Italy, in 1632. He moved to Paris, France, in 1646. Lully worked for the French royalty. He was instrumental in creating French Opera, introducing orchestras with large string sections, and insisting that all the string players use matching bow direction. His composing style defined music of the French Baroque.
