Miscellaneous: Room 3 Camp Rotation

Back in the 1870's when the first miners arrived in Waihi they lived in tents and shacks. They had no electricity to cook food or keep it cold. They lived on cured meat called jerky and bread called damper which is similar to scones. Water had to be boiled before drinking so miners drank alot of tea. They cooked on open campfires.
