In My Side of the Mountain, Sam Gribley makes plans to run away from his home in New York City. First he must do some research and hone his skills before he can run away to the Catskills Mountains. Alone in the wilderness, he finds shelter in a huge hollowed-out tree and adopts a falcon he names Frightful, and Baron Weasel for companions, and then works hard to find food to keep himself alive.
