Lloyd Earnest Payne - Army Air Corps
Lloyd was drafted into the Army Air Corps in 1944 during World War II. At the time he was drafted Lloyd was married and had two young children. In the Army Air Corps Lloyd was an air mechanic and worked on B24's, B25's, and A26's. He was stationed in Lawry Field, CO; Deming, NM; Marianna, FL; Fort Carson, CO; Buckley Field, CO; Biloxi, MO; Long Beach, CA; Normol, TX; and Kelly Field, TX. Although Lloyd was not a pilot, he had several opportunities to ride along which he thoroughly enjoyed. Lloyd recalls having to shine the brass buttons on his uniform. In 1946, Lloyd was informed that he was to become the father yet again and per military policy, was honorably discharged. At the time of his discharge Lloyd was a private first class. Lloyd now utilizes the services of the Veteran's Affairs. He has attended and has received significant assistive technology to use at home and in the community.
