Sermon Text: Matthew 2:1-12 Sermon Title: The True King Summary: God showed the wise men the way to the true king, Jesus. The wise men followed God’s leading and worshiped Jesus with great joy, reverence, and gifts. God has also showed us Jesus, so we rejoice in Him, worship Him, and live for Him! Sermon Outline: 1. Where is the King? (vv. 1-8) 2. There, in Bethlehem, is the King! (vv. 9-12) 3. Rejoice in the True King and Worship Him! Memory Verse: Micah 5:2 But you, O Bethlehem Ephrathah, who are too little to be among the clans of Judah, from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose coming forth is from of old, from ancient days. Questions for Devotions and Family Worship: 1. What about Jesus’ coming gives you joy? What in particular have you been reminded of through the stories of Christmas? 2. Sometimes its difficult to think of Jesus as our king, because we don’t have kings today (in the US), and His kingdom is spiritual. How can we better realize and understand that Jesus really is our king? 3. What do you do, or can you do, to worship Christ with reverence and with your gifts?
