Genesis 9
The Covenant of the Rainbow
Summary:
Have you ever seen a rainbow? How about a DOUBLE rainbow? Those are incredible - one of my favorite memories in San Diego is seeing a double rainbow at a park one day. Every time we see them we should stop and marvel at God’s great promise to continue to protect and care for his world. This is the promise he made to Noah so long ago still echoes in the skies today every time we see one! Let’s think today about God’s covenant he made on that day…
Outline:
1. God commands us all to produce and preserve life
2. God’s covenant is a promise that He will preserve life until the end of history
3. God’s sign of the rainbow is a sign that His judgment will turn to peace
Verse: Genesis 9:6 “Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed, for God made man in his own image.
