Salvation belongs to the Lord
Psalm 3
1. The seeming inconsistency of the promise: There is no deliverance for Him in God
2. The reversal of fortunes: But you, O Lord
3. Rest in the midst of danger: I lay down… I woke again
4. God’s promises fulfilled: Salvation belongs to the Lord
Summary:
Have you every looked at your life and wondered where God is in all the mess? Have you been afraid, not knowing the outcome of a difficult situation? Maybe it was a time of suffering, or the suffering of a loved one. Or, kids, maybe it was when you had to sleep with the lights off. YIKES! This Sunday, we will look at the prayer of King David as he was being chased by his son Absalom (who wanted to kill him!), and we will listen to his prayer. But this is not just the prayer of a faithful man, in this Psalm David points us to Christ and the salvation that He has won for us by His perfect trust in the Father. We will begin to understand how God protects us and how Jesus conquered our greatest enemies, so that when we put our heads on the pillow, we can sleep.
Verse: Psalm 3:3 (ESV)
3 But you, O LORD, are a shield about me, my glory, and the lifter of my head.
