The Supreme Sovereignty of the Son
Psalm 2
Summary: You might know that our country just had elections for new leaders. It is always tempting to think that the right leader (president, senator, mayor, etc) will be the thing that makes us happy and secure. God's people Israel thought that too- They wanted a king who would fight their battles and care for them, so they asked for Saul. But they didn't want God as their king! Today we'll look at Psalm 2 and be reminded that there is only one true king who can wisely rule and defend us - JESUS! Let's think about it:
1. Cosmic rebellion: the world rejects God as their king
2. Holy laughter: God has a perfect plan to rule His creation
3. The One True King: Jesus is the perfect king who rules forever
4. The way of escape: to escape God's wrath we must trust in and submit to king Jesus
Verse: Clap your hands, all peoples! Shout to God with loud songs of joy! For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared, a great king over all the earth. (Psalm 47:1-2)
